A Time for Contemplation (Open) « Thread Started on Dec 9, 2008, 7:30pm »
As Remus walked through the bridge that connected Hogwarts to Hogsmeade. He paused in the middle and look at the landscape; 'what went so wrong here'; he thought to himself. Remus remembered the first time he laid eyes on Hogwarts and how James came up to him and escorted him around the grounds. James, Sirius and him were quite a threesome until Peter Petigrew joined in. "Peter" he said aloud.

Andromeda had been wandering the banks aimlessly. There was a large part of her that wanted to go into Hogsmeade, but she couldn't think of why. Since her meeting with Snape about the Sanprin girl, she had felt terribly restless. She was unsure of what she wanted, so all she could do was walk. After pacing and moping about for an hour or so, her eyes saw a familiar figure in the distance. Upon closer inspection, she saw it to be Remus, and she felt she might as well approach him.
Remus was a likeable character for the most part, and she had no more against him than anyone else. Of course, Andromeda did seem to have a vendetta against the world, probably caused by too few hugs as a child, but the point was moot. For whatever reason, she felt she needed company, and his was as good as any.
"Professor Lupin," she said, always preferring formalities, "Going into Hogsmeade? Or perhaps coming back...?"
She was unsure as to whether or not it had been a full moon recently. Perhaps he was returning from the Shrieking Shack and she was being terribly indelicate. Had she been the type, she would have been embarrassed at the idea.

"Hello Andromeda, no I was just out for a stroll. I was remembering my first time I arrived here, it seems like yesterday." Shaking his head, "So much has happened in such a short time, and now we are at war again it seems. I can't believe that people are alienating themselves from the ministry and friends ----well they don't seem to be themselves either. I don't know."

There was an odd dissatisfaction she felt at this moment. She had been craving company, but for whatever reason, Remus didn't seem to suffice. He was a pleasant chap, as mentioned before, and she supposed she liked him as much as anyone else. Out of politeness she stayed, but she felt antsy.
"Do you mind if we walk?" she asked, already beginning to move her legs, "I think I have some sort of cold... I'm feeling terribly unsettled, I don't know what it is."
His words on the past stirred her. There were many things she understood about his memories, and she knew better than most that nostalgia was a strange disease. It was a hole one fell into, sometimes without hope of ever climbing out. She had learned to stay out of her own past, lest she get buried.
"There's always doubt... or should I say denial, about war," she mused, "People don't want to believe it, so they won't until their faces are rubbed in it. It's unfortunate, but it's true. I suppose if we do our jobs properly, they'll never have to come to that moment."

"Yes, I think a walk would do me good, thank you", Remus replied as he started to walk. "There is so much to done, places to seek....." he stopped himself, like he has a habit of doing these day-slipping of the tongue, "Forgive me, but my mind wanders. I currently having a hard time with the way Severus has been acting these days. Albus, told me a thousand times not to prejudge him--but there are things...." Remus did not know whether or not he should tell her of what he saw in the forest. After all, it could have been a coincidence or just the way Severus likes to keep a mystic about him. There were other changes he observed and in Harry, he was seeing more and more of James in him; there were time when he found himself calling him James by mistake. Remus must remember to remain neutral when it came to the discussion of the dark lord around Harry.

Walking beside him, she found her mind wandering as he spoke. Nothing held interest for her, it seemed. His words, his gate, the scenery, the castle. There was an itch in the back of her mind, a reminder of something she had long ago forgotten. It was like she had tied a string around her finger, but couldn't remember why. Something was amiss.
She realized then that Remus had paused for some kind of reaction, and she backtracked to find out what he had been going on about.
"When I first joined the Order, I made up excuses for Severus," she admitted as she lifted her cloak to better trudge over a small hill in the walkway, "I told myself he must be lonely, must be upset to be such a berk."
Once they were over the little rise in the ground, she released the bunched fabric from her hands. What was it, she wondered. What was wrong?
"But then I recalled that I'm not the easiest person in the world, and I don't think I have an excuse for it. Snape is a bloody foolish tosser. Save a life, still a tosser. Keep a secret, still a tosser. If you try to find reason in the man, you'll go mad."

Remus chuckled at the remark, "Severus is one not to get on his bad side. If it wasn't for Albus ordering him to make the wolfsbane potion for me; I don't think Severus would give the time of day." Again his inner thought over came him and was again a young student in the hospital with a animal bite. Albus sitting by his side and talking with a greasy haired boy about a wolfsbane potion. When the grease ball turned around -it was Severus; he seemed not to comprehend what Albus was asking him to do. He started inwardly laughing and realized he was laughing out loud. "Oh, I so sorry, I did mean to laugh at you, " Remus said, " I was lost in thought again. Andromeda, I have been meaning to ask you about -Rolduphus has been asking around town about you. He seem to be under the impression that you are talking with centaurs. Is that true? I think it is rather funny that he should be so bold to even get caught making the inquiries, but as Sirus and I guess, Bellatrix seems to be the brains in that family."
